Everyone these days has turned to social media as a way to drive traffic and leads to their business. But with more and more social media sites popping up everyday you are probably wondering witch ones you should be using. Many people try using all of them and just run out of time in the day. The first thing I would like to cover is that fact that everyone thinks social media is free, it’s not. You will not spend money on social media, but you will be spending time. Time is very important and you can waste a ton of it on social media sites. That is why it is key to pick the right social media sites for you and your goals.

1. Facebook: Facebook is king when it comes to traffic and being able to build relationships with the people you are talking to. People think because there is a 5000 friend limit on Facebook , that Facebook is no good in building your business. I like the fact that Facebook has a limit it allows me to build relationships with people and also people are more picky who they allow to be their friends. I have over 34,000 twitter followers at the time I posted this article my Facebook profile of 4,000 pulls way more and better business relationships.

2. Twitter: Now Twitter is king when it comes to reaching the most people. Twitter allows you to build a list very quickly and get your message out in front of thousands. Now with that being said, building relationships not your list size is more important. So use twitter and build your list, but also build those valuable relationships.

3. Youtube: Many people don’t think of Youtube as a great way to build your business, but if you make videos and connect with people, Youtube will become a huge traffic source for you. Youtube allows you to add friends and build a subscriber list, so as time goes by your videos will get more and more viral.

4. Linkedln: Many of you are trying to build a business and find people who have the same mindset. What better place to go then social media sites that are just for business. Linkedln gets you in front of your target market and makes it faster and easier to find the right people for your business.

5. BetterNetworker: BetterNetworker is the smallest out of this group, but It makes up for it in your target market and value. The whole sites is made up of people who are in home based business and the community is wonderful and the training and value is second to none.

These are my top 5. I know there is thousands of social media sites out there that people use to build their businesses. The key to all these sites is don’t over extended yourself and really focus on just a handful that work for you.
